POS catalog

POS catalog

What this feature is for

The catalog at /pos/catalog defines what you sell: products, prices, taxes, accounting categories, and accepted payment methods. It is the reference that every order and invoice draws from.

Who can use it

Managing the catalog and payment methods is an Owner and Admin task. Staff take orders and payments but do not edit catalog data.

Availability and required module/permission

The catalog requires the POS module and the catalog-management permission. Only Owners and Admins hold this permission in V1.

Prerequisites

You need an active POS module for the restaurant. There is no configuration prerequisite to open the catalog; it is where you satisfy the readiness that other POS flows depend on.

Common tasks

  • Add a product: give it a price, currency, tax rate, and accounting category so it becomes orderable.
  • Manage payment methods: define the methods staff can record against invoices.

Buttons and statuses

A product only becomes orderable once its financial metadata is complete. Incomplete products cannot be added to an order.

Warnings and important constraints

Prices and accounting fields are snapshotted onto order lines. Editing catalog data later never rewrites historical orders or invoices.

Troubleshooting guidance

If a product cannot be added to an order, check that its price, currency, tax rate, and accounting category are all set.
