Notifications
Notifications
What this feature is for
Notifications keep you aware of things that need attention in the active restaurant, such as a booking that needs confirmation or a failed prepayment. The bell in the top bar shows an unread count, and the notification center lists your recent items so nothing important slips by.
Who can use it
Owners, Admins, and Staff receive in-app notifications relevant to their role. Everyone, including Viewers, can manage their own notification preferences, but Viewers do not receive notifications in V1.
Availability and required module/permission
Notifications are part of the core platform and need no purchasable module. Each notification is scoped by your role and by the module it relates to, so you only see items you are entitled to. Visibility is re-checked when you open the list, so a role or module change updates what you see.
Prerequisites
None. Notifications are available as soon as your account has a restaurant.
Common tasks
- Open the notification center: use the bell in the top bar to see your items.
- Mark items as read: clear the unread count for a single item or all at once.
- Adjust preferences: turn off a notification group you do not need.
Screen and field reference
The bell shows an unread count; the center lists items with their read or unread state. Preferences are organized by group and are suppress-only: you can turn a group off, but you cannot widen access beyond what your role and modules already allow. The system group is always delivered.
Warnings and important constraints
Preferences can only reduce what you receive, never grant more. Notifications are kept for 30 days and then removed automatically. Viewers receive no notifications in V1.
Troubleshooting guidance
If you are not receiving an expected notification, check that its group is not turned off in your preferences and that your role and active module make you a recipient. Older items disappear after 30 days by design.
